The Hotel –
ICChennai located on the eastern coast of Tamil Nadu, is one of the beautiful properties oh the lap of Bay of Bengal. Surfing has become a major sport and hit big time with lot of surfers and tourists alike flock to Mahabalipuram to catch some big waves or learn. Mahabalipuram was once a port and is famous for the architecture and temples across the shores.
After the check-in, it was time for a mini tour of the property. I was keen to jump right into the pool, as it seemed inviting in this heat and humidity. I got the Classic suite, a contemporary room. The design and interiors compliment the tranquil surrounding at the resort. What caught my attention was the sunken bathtub! Stylish hospitality meets contemporary amenities in a modern-day setting.
There are 105 rooms, an outdoor pool, a gorgeous lily pool, an ayurvedic spa and gym, along with three dining venues and a Tiki Bar
European – The Gatsby lounge bar
South Asian – Tao of Peng
Indian – The Melting Pot
Kokommo – Tiki bar
A quick lunch, and it was time to get set for the launch of KoKommo. A Tiki Bar by the beach! The set up – Hawaiian theme all over, from the colourful surfboards to the bright yellow food truck, cabanas and bamboo beach huts. The music played in the background and it was perfect weather to compliment the evening and I made it in time to watch the sunset.
Where do I begin? The food counters were spread across the side of the beach! As tempting as each dish looked, the live counters were more inviting to I tried a bit of everything through the night. A mix of continental, Asian and Indian to take your pick from. The guests were allowed to grill their choice of meat and veggies and create your own platter! The cocktails kept flowing through the night. The bar was open and you could take your pick of spirits to get you in the mood.
In conclusion –
The launch party was a grand success for sure, as it went on past midnight! I ate so much, and compliments to the DJ, as he was off the hook and kept me on my feet to digest it all!
The next morning, after a lovely breakfast. Lounging by the pool was the best medicine after the long night! The stay at the resort was hospitable. Unfortunately, I didn’t get time to get out to see the city, but look forward to return. There is always, something about the place that compels you to love it, the tranquility, or the food (in my case). And I am definitely going to return.
KoKommo, is all set to host exclusive flea markets, full moon parties, IPL/ Movie screenings, to music festivals. And who can resist the gorgeous sunset that warrants a trip down the bay of bengal!
